To me there is a little bit of magic in finding some rare and unique pieces that already come with their very own story.

What do you make

I “upcycle” jean jackets and button down shirts. It is all about reusing, repurposing and recycling.

Where’s home, and what do you like about it?

Easy answer: I live in beautiful Jasper and I like everything about it. It is my first time living in the mountains and it did not take a long time for me to completely fall in love with it. To call a national park your own backyard to adventure and explore is very special to me. Also the people I have met so far are just amazing! I feel very much at home here.

What’s your origin story? How did you get started with this work?

I am born and raised in Germany. During my apprenticeship in Berlin and while traveling all over the world, I always enjoyed shopping in thrift stores. To me there is a little bit of magic in finding some rare and unique pieces that already come with their very own story. Not to mention the sustainable side of not needing to buy brand new clothes if there are stores full of “new to me” clothes.

I had a lot of free time on my hands. Living on a small Island in British Columbia with lots of rain and grey days, I started to play around with some jackets of my own and old fabric scraps. And there it was - the idea to recycle and “upcycle” all the treasures a thrift store has to offer.

What pushes and/or inspires you to be creative?

All my life, art and being creative have been huge passions of mine. I basically enjoyed everything I could create. Best from scratch until a finished piece was created. My parents house is full of “little Lisa creations” (not all of them are useful or pretty though :D). And up until today there is this urge of creating. Something that stays. Something that lasts.

How can people purchase your work?

At the moment, I am just creating. I am happy to share my work and show it to others and maybe eventually share a common workspace. I would like to have my own little business or shop in the near future. Updates will follow :)

Anything else you’d like to add?

If there are any questions or you’d like to get together to craft, I am happy to share my space.
