Catherine Butterfield
What do you make
Mainly I work with polymer clay, epoxy resin, wood & pyrography. I make statement earrings mostly, but if I see something fun and interesting I'll definitely give it a go. I've made birdhouses out of popsicle sticks, planters out of clay, and dreamcatchers out of sticks I found in the forest. As long as my hands are busy, I'm happy.
Is this a part time or full time pursuit
Part time
Where’s home, and what do you like about it
Jasper, AB. I love how active the community is physically and socially.
What’s your origin story? How did you get started with this work?
One of my best gal pals @nidudesigns reached out to me to tell me that I would absolutely love working with clay... And she wasn't wrong. She's been a huge mentor to me through the beginning process of me starting my own business and still is. She's constantly teaching me new techniques and it's been alot of fun bouncing ideas off one another and always challenging each other.
What pushes and/or inspires you to be creative?
Mainly just working with new materials and seeing how they manipulate each project differently. Sometimes it's a frustrating process but like my uncle Manfred taught me, let the art take on a life of its own and you may end up with something beautiful.
How can people purchase your work?
My earrings can be purchased at Buffalo Betty's on Connaught st. In Jasper, Ab.
For custom orders I can be contacted by email; catbutboutique@gmail.com or on Instagram.
