Where’s home, and what do you like about it
I was born in Calgary but moved to Jasper at a very young age so I’ve called this little gem of a mountain town home for a very long time! Although Ive spread my wings and explored other places over the years, I replanted my roots almost 10 years ago and haven’t left since!
Growing up in Jasper was a truly unique experience and as a mother to 3 beautiful girls, I couldn’t imagine raising my own family anywhere else.
Other than the obvious beauty that surrounds us, we have a very special sense of community here, something that’s truly hard to find anywhere else. We support and encourage our neighbours, we’ve got each others backs. It’s a very comforting feeling and I think that’s what I love the most about this town.
But regardless of where life takes me, I think I’ll always call Jasper home. ❤️.
What’s your origin story? How did you get started with this work?
In 2015 I had been seeing these beautiful boho inspired dreamcatchers popping up online and I really wanted to get one for my sister for Christmas but it was sort of a last minute idea and it wouldn’t have arrived in time so I just made one instead! She loved it and I got a lot of positive feedback from friends and within the community so the rest is history!
In 2017 I had some pretty major changes in my personal life and went from being a stay at home mom to working out of the house and I wasn’t able to find the time to create to the level I had been so my craft ended up on the back burner for a while. But with all the time I’ve had at home during the pandemic, I’ve been able to really push a head with my art and it’s been so nice!!
What pushes and/or inspires you to be creative?
Although I do find the process of working on my pieces to be quite therapeutic, I really just enjoy making beautiful things! If it’s not something I’d hang on my walls, I’m not selling it. I truly love every piece I’ve ever made.
How can people purchase your work?
Since the beginning of Dream On Studio, Cocos Cafè has been home to my work. They have just always seemed fit perfectly in there and I’m so grateful to be given that space! You’ll be able to find a few pieces from my new collection hanging there next week:)
You can of course also find pieces for purchase through my social media accounts and can contact me directly for custom work.
